w11454741 WHIRLPOOL GEARCASE

Technical specifications:

• Function: Control the pace and speed of movement of the suit and agitator (Agitator).

• Compatibility: Original piece (OEM) designed for select models of Whirlpool, Maytag, and Kenmore washing machines.

• Design: Closed unit containing durable metal gears immersed in special grease to reduce friction and provide high torque.

• Importance: It is responsible for transferring "torque" from the motor to the drum, so it is exposed to large mechanical loads.

How to use and maintain

• Mechanism of action:

  • In the wash: The gears move the agitator back and forth to clean clothes.

  • In squeeze: The gears are engaged to rotate at high speed to divert water from the clothes (centrifugal).

• Signs of damage (when should they be replaced?):

  1. Very loud noise: Hearing a constant metal "grinding" sound during the wash or spin cycle, indicating wear of the internal gears.

  2. Stopping movement: The motor runs and makes a sound, but the drum does not rotate or move.

  3. Oil leak: Black oil stains appear under the washer or at the bottom of the drum (this occurs when the "seal" in the gearbox is damaged).

  4. Washing machine does not squeeze: If the washing machine fails to switch from wash mode to spin mode.
