الوظيفة: يعمل كحساس أمان للحرارة في الثلاجات (No-Frost). وظيفته هي إيقاف سخان التذويب (Defrost Heater) بمجرد أن تذوب كل الثلوج عن ملفات التبريد (Evaporator Coils) وترتفع حرارتها إلى مستوى معين، وذلك لحماية الثلاجة من الحرارة الزائدة.

التصميم: مفتاح “ثنائي المعدن” (Bi-Metal) يُغلق عند درجة حرارة منخفضة جداً (عندما يتكون الثلج) ليسمح بتشغيل السخان، ويفتح الدائرة الكهربائية عندما ترتفع الحرارة (بعد ذوبان الثلج).

متى يتم الاستبدال:

تراكم الثلج: إذا لاحظت تراكم طبقات كثيفة من الثلج على ملفات التبريد (داخل الفريزر) وعدم قدرة الثلاجة على التبريد بشكل جيد في الجزء السفلي (الثلاجة).

سخان لا يعمل: إذا قمت بفحص السخان ووجدته سليماً (لا يذوب الثلج)، فغالباً ما يكون الترموستات هو السبب لأنه هو “البوابة” التي تسمح بمرور الكهرباء للسخان.

فحص الملتيميتر: في درجة حرارة التجميد، يجب أن يعطي هذا الحساس “اتصالاً” (Continuity – قراءة صفر أوم)، بينما في درجة حرارة الغرفة يجب أن يعطي “قطعاً” (Open circuit). إذا لم تظهر هذه النتائج، فالترموستات تالف.
